Working with West Suffolk College to provide training for advisers.

Posted: 14th May 2021

The Community Challenge is a scheme for Norfolk and Suffolk led by the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) in conjunction with both the Norfolk and Suffolk Community Foundations. The scheme aims to help people in the LEP area to enter employment, and deliver against a range of work readiness outcomes.

Since January 2021, we have been working with West Suffolk College to provide Customer Service training and Citizens Advice Adviser training to five unemployed adults. This nine month project, provides training for potential Citizens Advice volunteers to develop skills in providing advice and information to the West Suffolk community as well as customer service training. The students will be offered the opportunity to work with our clients to help them resolve their problems. During the current pandemic, our clients are being affected by the impact of unemployment, financial issues and housing.

The trainees have successfully completed their customer service training and are currently being trained in providing support for our clients. If successful, they will be able to join our team of volunteer advisers here at Citizens Advice West Suffolk or use their customer service and support skills to secure employment.

Another similar course is planned for September this year.
