The Citizens Advice service can help with lots of different problems, like making sense of benefits, dealing with debt, problems at work, issues with housing, help with energy costs.

Get advice online

If your problem isn’t very complicated, or if you’d like to see if you can find the information you need, you can visit the national Citizens Advice website. There’s lots of useful and detailed information to help you deal with common problems quickly and simply.
If your problem is more complicated or you think you need to speak to someone, then you can contact us directly and we’ll do our best to help.

Monday to Friday 9.30am to 3.30pm.

Calls are free to the service, but the lines can be very busy and it can be difficult to get through. If this is the case then it may be easier to use the contact form.
When you get through to us a volunteer with take some basic information and then record this information on our confidential case recording system. You will then be called back and we will either provide you with the help you need over the phone, arrange a face to face appointment or refer you to the appropriate organisation to help with your issue.

When we receive a copy of your contact form we will record the information on our confidential case recording system and then we will either call or email you back (depending on your preference)

 

In person

When you visit, a volunteer will take some basic information and then record this information on our confidential case recording system. E-Mail Advice

Once you fill in our email form, someone from one of our local offices will contact you within 2-3 working days with a response to your enquiry. Please provide sufficient detail of your enquiry in your email.

If you need help applying for Universal Credit, knowing what benefits you are eligible for, or have a problem with Universal Credit before the first payment you should contact the Help to Claim team by phone or webchat here.

Data Protection

At Citizens Advice we must ask you for your consent to record, use, or share personal information. This form is used to do that. We have a legitimate interest to do this. When we record your personal information we will only access it when we have good reason, not sell it to commercial organisations and only share what is necessary and relevant. The information will be used to provide you with advice.

To help with your enquiry we may need to record details of your case.

We also need to seek consent to record special category data including ethnicity, details of disability and health conditions, religion, sexual orientation and trade union membership. It is not compulsory for you to reveal this information. If you do not wish to tell us any of the special category information you may leave that section of the form blank. If you agree this information will be used to give you advice, help gather data to improve our service and support research through anonymised reporting.

Your information will be kept safe in our secure case management system and remain confidential unless exceptional circumstances require us to disclose information. This means we will only pass on the information if we believe there is a risk of you or someone else suffering serious harm or a serious crime is planned or has been committed.
