Ethnicity penalty on car insurance

Citizens Advice have carried out a year long investigation, analysing 18,000 car insurance costs reported by people who come to us for for help. We found that on average people of colour paid £250 more per year than white people. We are calling for the Financial Conduct authority to make sure customers are treated fairly in the insurance market. They need to make sure that insurance firms are transparent in their pricing decisions and take enforcement action if firms can’t explain higher prices for people of colour.
