Housing
Our client is disabled and was recently diagnosed with cancer. He was sharing a three bedroomed property with his ex-partner and their four children, one of whom is also disabled. This resulted in him occasionally sofa surfing at friends whilst undergoing and recuperating from cancer treatment. The local authority gave the client a low priority as they said he had a joint tenancy with his ex-partner. Citizens Advice successfully argued that it was not reasonable for the client to continue living with his ex-partner. His banding was re-assessed to band A, which means he can now access appropriate housing.
