Consumer Case Study (1)
As in previous years we have found that clients paying for goods or services in cash can often lead to problems or make any problem more difficult to resolve.
In one case an elderly lady living in sheltered housing paid in cash some £1100 for a second hand mobility scooter from a mobility products company. The buyer knew exactly what she wanted and ordered but regrettably the scooter supplied was not the one described or bought and was too large for the property where the lady lived. Fortunately the buyer had granddaughters who contacted us for help after the company refused a refund. When we contacted the company and explained the circumstances a collection and full refund was immediately agreed and carried out within two weeks.
We often advise clients to pay by credit card if possible.
