Last Saturday (6th October) Citizens Advice ran a Race Night at Haverhill Golf Club. The event was a great success with over 60 people attending and the event raised over £2,400 for our local organisation.
The Golf Club provided the venue and the food. The race event itself was run by East Anglian Race Nights and the atmosphere was electric. Close your eyes and you could have been at Newmarket! The auction of horses for the last race was especially lively with over £200 raised during that 10 minute session alone.
We were very fortunate to have the attendance of the Mayor of St Edmundsbury, Councillor Margaret Marks, as well as a wide range of people from the town and the Golf Club. Barclays Bank gave their generous support for the event. The races were sponsored by a number of local businesses, including Peasgood and Skeats (who sent a team to the event to join in the fun), Preview Property, Bourne Estates, Haverhill Financial Services and 1 Accounts. Baythorne Hall and the East Anglian Co-op also provided raffle prizes.
