Multiple Sclerosis project

We have been running a scheme to support those affected by MS and their families since 2008 across West Suffolk with funding initially from the national MS Society and now supported by local branches. This enables us to provide more tailored support to clients on the range of issues from claiming benefits, to dealing with employment issues, money advice, accessing grants and support to adapt homes etc. We work with neurological nurses to take referrals, but also welcome contact from people direct, and provide holistic advice according to the needs of the individual or family, including advice for carers.

Due to the way in which MS develops, many people are not regularly engaged with medical professionals, so we have found some clients who knew nothing of the benefits to which they were entitled, and whose quality of life was greatly improved once they were put in touch with our caseworker.

The regular service offered by the Citizens Advice bureau is not sufficient for this client group, who need a dedicated service which can be quickly and easily accessible, via home visits if needed.

If this is relevant to you, and you would like to talk to someone about the help that we can provide, please contact our MS team on 01284 717190 and leave a message if necessary.
